A family Classic, the Raft & Rail combines two of the areas iconic experiences into one seamless adventure. After your scenic train ride up the Nantahala gorge, you’ll take a fully-guided trip down the 8 miles of playful Nantahala whitewater! Visit the Nantahala River Rafting to learn more about the playful Nantahala River. Equipment Furnished: Raft, paddle, PFD and paddling jacket.

  • Children must weigh at least 60 pounds OR be at least 7 years old to raft.
  • Arrive wearing your rafting clothes. Suggested rafting clothes are: Shorts, t-shirt and shoes that will stay on your feet.
  • No flip-flops or sandals unless they have a heel strap.
  • Bring a change of clothing, dry shoes, a towel and money to purchase snacks, drinks, photos, or souvenirs. (Storage will be provided for personal belongings while you are rafting.)
  • Your party will be shuttled back to the Great Smoky Mountains Railroad parking lot at the end of your adventure.
  • Allow a full day for the train and adventure.
  • Trips go rain or shine.
