Experience the magic this holiday season! Join us for a truly magical recreation of the classic holiday story, THE POLAR EXPRESS™ Train Ride. Climb aboard one of our powerful locomotives and historic train cars as it departs our Bryson City Depot for the North Pole to pick up Santa Claus himself. Upon arriving at our depot, you’ll be immersed in the story as our chefs serve you hot chocolate and sweet treats while singing and dancing all the way to the Pole! On the return trip to Bryson City, Santa will visit each coach and hand out the first gift of Christmas to each child.

Celebrate love this Valentine’s Day with a scenic train ride along the picturesque Tuckasegee River. Departing at 6:00 PM from Bryson City, our journey will take you through the enchanting 836-foot-long tunnel before returning at approximately 9:00 PM. Indulge in a chef-prepared three-course meal featuring a Caesar salad, your choice of 8 oz. prime rib or Norwegian salmon with seasonal sides, or a vegetarian option of balsamic glazed grilled Portobello eggplant over quinoa. Conclude your meal with a decadent chocolate mini mousse and a complimentary glass of champagne in a souvenir stemless wineglass. Nantahala Gorge Excursion (Diesel Only)
Enjoy the sights and sounds of the Great Smoky Mountains alongside the beautiful Nantahala River and Fontana Lake on our Nantahala Gorge excursion! Departing from Bryson City, this four-and-a-half-hour roundtrip excursion carries you 44 miles to the stunning Nantahala Gorge and back to our Bryson City depot. Nantahala (nan-tuh-HAY-luh) Gorge Excursions depart west from Bryson City, first following Alarka Creek and Fontana Lake. The Fontana Trestle then takes you across the serene reservoir and into the beautiful Nantahala Gorge. Onboard dining is available in First Class; and Crown, Coach, and Gondola guests can pre-purchase a lunch to make this a unique dining experience. Arrive at our destination at the Nantahala Outdoor Center in the heart of the gorge for a one-hour layover where you can relax by the river, grab a beer or snack, and enjoy sightseeing!
