Yes, advanced ticket purchases are strongly recommended due to the event’s popularity and limited availability. 

All reservations must be paid in full at the time of booking. 

Once your purchase is finalized, you will not be able to reschedule your reservation. If you would like to attend on a different date, you will need to purchase new tickets for the desired date and then submit a refund request through TICKETWEB for your original tickets.

All Reservation Sales are final, if you need a refund, you must submit a refund request through Ticketweb. 

Please check in with the ticket office to inquire about availability for a different date or
time if you would like to reschedule. Each train ride has limited capacity; therefore, we can only guarantee seating for the date and time originally reserved.

All tickets will be emailed to you once your purchase is finalized.

No upgrades will be available; the only seating options offered will b e Coach and Open-Air. 

Departure dates will be July 23-26 July 30-August 2 2026 with Departure times of 9:00 AM, 9:50 AM, 10:40 AM, 11:30 AM, 12:40 PM, 1:30 PM, 2:20 PM, and 3:10 PM.

All guests ages 2 and up will be charged the same price, regardless of age.

Day Out With Thomas will be a 30-Minute round trip Excursion.

We recommend arriving at least an hour before your departure time; however, there will be additional activities on site i f you would like to arrive earlier.

With your DOWT admission ticket, you’ll enjoy a 30-minute excursion, access to on site activities, and free admission to the GSMR Train Museum located in Bryson City.

Coach Class cars are enclosed and feature windows that can be opened or closed to your preference. The Open Air car includes a 4½-foot waist-high wall with a roof overhead and is fully open between the walls for an outdoor experience.

Strollers are not permitted on board but may be used for on-site activities.

Yes, restrooms will be located in various areas throughout the event. In addition, restrooms will also be available on the train itself.

We will still depart as scheduled for DOWT. Most of the on-site activities and food vendors will be located indoors.

Pets are not allowed on board the train. We do allow service animal who is defined as a dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for people with Disabilities.

No, food will not be available for purchase on the train. However, a variety of food vendors will be set up in different areas of the event where you can buy food and beverages before or after your excursion.

Normal travel time from Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge TN to Whittier NC will be approximately 1 ½ t o 2 hours. Travel time during peak periods including July and August may be longer.

Ticketweb provides a $4.00 discount per ticket for groups o f 2 0 or more, as well as a
